How Stainless Steel Corner Guards make Christmas Decorating a Breeze

If you enjoy putting up Christmas decorations, you may be wondering if stainless steel corner guards would make doing so difficult. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that corner guards will actually make your decorating quite a bit easier for a number of reasons.

Certain decorations such as tinsel or garland must be taped to the wall if they are going to remain in place. Unfortunately, when it comes time to remove the tape, sticky residue could be left behind that is challenging to remove. Not only that, but you also run the risk of pulling out patches of drywall if you use certain kinds of tape. Tape will stick to stainless steel corner guards much easier, and you won’t have to worry about damaging your drywall when taking it down.

Christmas lights look especially nice when they are strung over the top of stainless steel guards. That’s because the light from them will emit a warm glow that will then be reflected by the steel surface. The result will be a more intriguing look than what would be possible if corner guards had not been put into place.

Corner guards will not distract from the look of your tree, wreaths or other decorations. They can even make taking decorations down much easier, since you won’t have to worry about damaging your drywall in the process. This can be especially important if you have larger decorations that are somewhat awkward to handle, as you could risk bumping into your wall and creating a tear if corner guards are not in place.

Now is an excellent time to have corner guards placed in your home in order to help you with Christmas decorating. To see our huge selection of corner guards, contact us.

Corner Guards and Office Flu Prevention: Winter Necessities for Your Business

According to the commercial cleaning experts at Coverall Health-Based Cleaning System, flu protection is a vital part of keeping your office running smoothly. Many illness-causing germs that are shared in an office environment can be eliminated by understanding germ hotspots and how the flu virus is frequently spread.

The average office phone, for example, carries 400 times more germs than a toilet seat, Coverall reports. Other common office surfaces that germs live on include door handles, faucet handles, vending machine, elevator and ATM buttons, as well as drinking fountains, keyboards and touchscreens. Flu germs can live on surfaces for days and people are often infected by getting the germs on their hands and then touching their faces. Typically, most flu outbreaks are seen between the months of December through February.

Frequent disinfection of office surfaces can help keep your employees feeling healthy. And Boss Corner Guards can help keep your wall corners looking healthy. A busy office environment often sees drywall damage as employees accidentally clip the corners when hauling supplies or even with their winter shoes and boots. Now you can keep your corners looking clean and professional and skip the ordeal of trying to repair or replace those corners or match the paint of newly repaired corners.

With over twenty years in the business of supplying corner guards that are of superior quality, along with the willingness to go above and beyond with both our product and our service, Boss Corner Guards is a name you can trust. For more information on our corner guards and how we can help you keep your office corners looking healthy this winter, contact us.

Drywall Protectors: a Smart Investment

One of the most common building materials of our time, drywall can be found in almost any home or business. Its relative cheapness, ease of accessibility, and straightforward installation process have made it a highly desirable building material. It's become so common that most of us would be surprised to discover a wall not made of it.

Despite its immense popularity as a building material, though, drywall is not perfect. Although it may be more economical and easy to install, using it comes with some serious drawbacks: it's weaker, more temporary, less soundproof, and a poor insulator when compared to the older, more traditional plaster walls.

Because of these weaknesses, both homeowners and small business owners often find themselves needing to repair or replace damaged sections of drywall, especially along highly-trafficked hallways and around the edges of doorways. From incidental corner chips to falling shelving units to fists flying through walls, accidents happen. To this end, drywall protectors prove to be a smart investment. With them in place, you can rest assured that at least your most-traveled junction points are protected against mishap.

With a stylish brushed finish, our stainless steel corner guards can complement the decor of any home, while our aluminum checker plate or galvanized steel corner guards are perfectly suited to for the interior and exterior corners of your business.

And remember that with the holidays coming up, now is the perfect time to take advantage of our gift certificate program for the conscientious homemaker or small business owner in your life.

Reasons Why You Need Corner Guards Before the Holidays

If you’ve been thinking about installing corner guards, now is the time to put your thoughts into action. By having corner guards placed before the holidays get here, you’ll be free to focus on much more important things once they actually arrive.

During the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you’re likely to do a lot of entertaining. This means there will be more people coming and going from your house, and an increased likelihood of your walls being damaged as a result. When you add alcohol into the equation, your odds of suffering wall damage are increased even further. If you have our attractive wall guards in place, you’ll feel free to show your guests a good time because you won’t be worried about wall damage.

You’re also more likely to damage your wall when toting large boxes of decorations in and out of your home. Christmas trees and their accompanying ornaments can be bulky and awkward, making it more likely you will scrape against the wall while you are carrying them. This is especially true if you must move these decorations up or down stairs. Having strategically placed corner guards will eliminate this worry so that your decorating plans can go off without a hitch.

While there are certainly lots of benefits to installing corner guards before the holidays, you won’t want to wait until they get here to think about doing so. Instead, contact us today so that your holiday season can be filled with joy instead of worry over the condition of your walls.

Corner Guards: For When the Unexpected is Expected

The very fact that OSHA exists says something about the overall safety levels of industrial North America. After all, if businesses, factories, warehouses, and loading docks were inherently accident free, why would there be a need for a government agency to oversee the overall safety and health of employees?

Interestingly, safety professionals and regulators generally evaluate success or failure in the safety arena by looking to the past:

Safety performance has traditionally been evaluated using “after the loss” measurements including Worker’s Compensation losses and costs due to accidents... These “reactive” or “lagging” indicators have a long history of use and have become the accepted standard for measuring the success of safety programs in the marketplace. (Phil Hagan, Safety First)

While such procedures are all well and good for the prediction of future costs and the evaluation of overall safety practices in particular industries, they do nothing for the prevention of accidents - a fact which Hagan goes on to note in his article. Simply keeping tally of the dollar amount of property damaged over the course of the last year does little to prevent the damages from recurring.

It's what's done with the data that's important. That's why accident prevention training is so vital. Likewise, careful allocation of resources aimed toward mitigating damage due to workplace mishaps can pay dividends in the long run.

To that end, businesses with the foresight to install Boss corner guards can rest assured that they have taken a critical step toward protecting their investment against workplace mishaps. While they won't necessarily save lives, corner guards will protect corners against equipment damage anywhere that heavy machinery is present.

Whether you choose the Aluminum Checker Plate corner guards to protect against typical workplace wear and tear on your drywall, brick, or plaster corners; the heavy-duty Industrial Corner Guards to guard against heavy machinery damage on the corners in your warehouses, garages, manufacturing plants, or industrial yards; or any of our other fine corner guard products, we know that you will be satisfied with your investment.

Protect Your Investment with Stainless Steel Corner Guards

Whether you're the proprietor of a dance studio, the teacher of a middle school class, the manager of an industrial kitchen, a fitness trainer, or merely the parent of small children, you'll find that stainless steel corner guards will ensure that you're able to protect the investment you've made.

  • In a dance studio, there's always the threat of misguided tap shoes and costume racks dinging against corners.
  • In any middle school classroom, the constant movement of rolling backpacks, rough-housing students, and classroom supply bins can take their toll on paint.
  • In an industrial kitchen, delivery men pulling supplies on metal hand trucks, the movement of stainless-steel prep carts, and cooking implements being tossed about among cooks can cause unexpected damage.
  • In a fitness studio, free weights and other exercise accessories - not to mention clients given to explosive movements - are not conducive to keeping walls and corners pristine.
  • In play rooms, whether it's racing their plastic cars up and down the walls, coloring on unexpected surfaces, or inexplicably heaving their toys at the walls and ceilings with little to no provocation, small children have a special gift for damaging any and all rooms in which they feel inspired to play.

As the owner either of a home or a business, you're no doubt rightly concerned with protecting your investment. To that end, we suggest that you protect your investment in every way that you can, from taking out the proper insurance to installing stainless steel corner guards.

Fabricated from high-quality North-American 304-grade stainless, our steel corner guards come with an attractively brushed finished intended to complement the décor of your studio, classroom, kitchen, or playroom.

Best of all, installing these corner guards will ensure future ease of mind, since any concern with matching paints to original colors will become obsolete.

If you have questions regarding how you can protect your investment by installing our stainless steel corner guards, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to serving you.

Stainless Steel Corner Guards Are Functional and Attractive for Apartment Buildings

Is there anything less attractive than the chipped drywall in an apartment building’s lobby? While it testifies to countless movers whose boxes and bulky furniture items have come in contact with the finished corners at the elevator or stairwell areas, it also gives the building’s interior an unappealing and unkempt appearance. With our stainless steel corner guards, this kind of wall abuse quickly becomes a distant memory.

Fashioned from 304-grade stainless steel, the corner guards protect against chipped drywall and the resulting cracks that call for patchwork repairs. Angled at a perfect 90 degrees and available with the in-demand WallGrip edge that minimizes the guard’s exposed edge, it is usually a good idea to install these products when the walls are new and the paint is fresh and free of blemishes.

The standard 22-gauge material of the guards is sufficient for most decorative applications. Depending on your needs, these guards are also available in thicknesses of 16, 18 and 20-gauge. Sizes vary from the standard two inches by two inches to a larger six inches by six inches. This type of coverage can be an excellent idea in the loading dock or on the walls around the freight elevator in the basement. If the 90-degree is not quite what you need, check out the 135-degree option instead. The latter is perfect for high-impact corners.

Installation of these stainless steel corner guards is a snap. Keep the peel-off PVC coating in place until you have positioned and properly adhered the guards with some good-quality construction adhesive. This prevents any accidental scratching with power tools. Remember to place the corner guards at the most impacted places around your venue. Since the brushed surface is quite attractive and stainless steel is currently the hot finish in interior design, there is no need for compromising and going with a paintable surface instead.

In fact, you may like the look so much that you take it from the apartment lobby to the inside of the units as well. Give kitchen walkways an ultramodern look – and protected corners – with attractive stainless steel guards. Boss Corner Guards knows that you want to keep your venue looking great but also have a budget to maintain.

Contact us today for information on the competitive pricing of our 48-inch and 96-inch stainless steel corner guard multi packs, and discover how installation of these guards will save you money on wall repairs.

Corner Protectors a Moving Must!

As you back up the moving truck into the driveway of your new home, you're most likely dreading the process of unloading the truck and wedging everything through doorways and down narrow halls into newly designated spaces.

Looking down at your phone, you sigh as you spot another text message from Uncle Al. As much as you may appreciate his willingness, you can't help but remember what happened the last time he helped you move. Who knew a piano could make that much noise going down an entire flight of stairs!

Or perhaps this time you've decided to bite the bullet and hire professional movers. Although you're happy to have a trained crew in place to handle the heavy stuff, you're still nervous to let anybody but family handle all of your earthly possessions.  As you watch the movers manhandle your dining-room table and casually toss boxes off the truck, you develop mild heartburn.

You find yourself eyeing your pristine, newly-painted house askance, wondering how much chipped or scuffed paint you're going to be dealing with by the end of the day.

Then you breathe a bit more easily as you remember that at least all of your corners are safe. You've invested in stainless steel corner protectors so as to guarantee that even in the event of another incident with the piano, at least the edges of your walls are completely protected from any incidental damage.

Since the corner protectors look great, your wife isn't even bothered that you installed them without her prior express knowledge. You're feeling so good that you may even be inspired to call Uncle Al and ask him over to help!

Then again, maybe not.

If you have questions regarding how our steel checker plate corner protectors can be used to protect the walls of your home, please do contact us at any time.

Get Some Wall Guards Installed Before the Students Arrive!

The student invasion is just around the corner. You’ve spent the entire summer fixing up all the dorm rooms on campus, and you just can’t believe the amount of damage some students can do—especially when they are supposed to be studying hard and focused on creating a successful future for themselves. Hard to believe!

But you’ve managed to do it. All the dorm rooms, bathrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, doorways and foyers are looking bright, with fresh paint and undamaged walls and corners.

Too bad that in a few short weeks, much of your careful work will have been undone by a few careless students as they move into the dorms and settle into their rooms for another year of studying, partying, and generally disregarding the welfare of the buildings they are living in.

Here is one suggestion that can help. We strongly suggest that you install wall guards in the public spaces of your dorm buildings. In addition to protecting corners from casual abuse by careless students, they will go a long way toward minimizing the damage caused when students first move in, in just a few short weeks. Stainless steel or galvanized corner guards provide protection for all your exposed corners, from move-in weekend through graduation exit. They will also decrease the amount of repair work on your plate next summer!

You can also further protect the walls, the students, and your school insurance rates by choosing the popular WallGrip edge. This innovative design compensates for wall corners that are no longer a perfect 90 degrees—which might be the case in many of your dorm buildings after years of abuse and repair. The WallGrip will reduce the amount of exposed edge on the corner guard, decreasing the chance that a student will catch a sleeve, or arm, on the sharp edge of a corner guard while roughhousing in the hallway.

The Advantages and Varied Uses of Corner Guards in Public Institutions

Whether in a hospital, hotel, restaurant, office, or home, walls all behave the same way: knock into their corners, and you have some unattractive scrapes or chips to deal with. To prevent the constant repairs, sanding, painting, and expense that come with chipped corners, many people turn to corner guards for maintaining their drywall, brick, or plaster walls.

Imagine paramedics sweeping into a hospital with stretchers and knocking bits and pieces of wall out of the way as they bump into corners to rush into the operating room; or bellboys hurrying to move a client's luggage and inadvertently slamming his metal briefcase into an intricately sculpted column; or unattended children playing tag in a restaurant and knocking plates off tables into walls; or new co-worker Bob moving into his office carrying three different boxes and inevitably running into the corner on his way to the cubicle.

Whatever the case, unprotected corners, particularly in densely populated and traveled areas, are more than likely to be abused in some form or other, and as a consequence, lead to deterioration in walls and other affected equipment, unnecessary spending for repairs, and worst off, the scrapes or bruises on people's knees. It's why public institutions like hospitals, hotels, restaurants, or offices make frequent use of corner guards and protectors to keep the interior and exterior of their building professional and well-kempt in appearance and functionality. Not only that, but corner guards have become common enough that they are considered as complementary or even stylish to different environments, almost akin to makeup on a female or rugs in a home, rather than as simply "additions."

Our products vary in size and material, whether you're looking for a smooth finish as a sleek outfit to the office, or a checker plate surface to emphasize a unique, rugged, high-tech look.

In effect, these materials offer protection, quality, the prospect of saving money and time on repairs, and in some cases, even a unique flair of design. We offer corner guards in stainless steel, which complements any type of environment, professional or personal; galvanized steel, which is ideal for harsh and particularly moist conditions; aluminum checker plate, which is perfect for that industrial, high-tech, professional grade look for walls or equipment; steel checker plate, for those wanting a more industrial look; and industrial steel type, meant for areas with heavy machinery and equipment.

Don't hesitate to take advantage of these benefits! Visit our website and contact us to order up your own corner guards - for the sake of yourself, and your abused walls.

Checker Plate Corner Protectors: Where Fashion Meets Function

When it comes to choosing corner protectors for your busy spaces, you probably aren’t thinking about fashion. Heck, fashion is probably not even in your business’ vocabulary, but you don’t have to know about what’s in style to know what looks good. We’re not talking runway models and clothes; we’re talking about choosing corner protectors that look professional and do a great job at what they are designed for, which is keeping your walls looking great and undamaged.

Let’s face it, corner guards aren’t exactly the type of thing that you look at and say, ‘My, that’s the latest in corner protection trends!’ But, you are definitely going to notice if they are cheaply made or just not up to doing the job of protecting your business or residential structures. One of the best looking, multi-use types of corner protectors also happens to be one of the best looking types available. Checker plate corner protectors add a polished, protective finish to your corners, and they look as good as they protect.

An industrial space deserves a sleek, hard-working design that will protect your drywall, brick and plaster wall corners. Once you’ve got your space the way you want it to look, don’t ruin the look, or risk damaging the walls, with an inferior corner guard. The beauty of the checker plate design is twofold; it looks amazing in any setting, and it doesn’t show up the scuffs and bangs that plain steel or aluminum surfaces do.

There’s a reason why so many industries love the checker plate design. It looks great and does a great job of protecting property. Consider the most common places checker plate corner guards are used, hospitals, airports, restaurants and garages, and you’ll know why it’s such a popular choice. For high traffic areas that need to present a ‘good face’, these corner guards pull double duty, keeping walls safe and looking great while they’re at it.

Here at Boss Corner Guards, we have the best checker plate corner guards for your needs. Contact us to find the right protection for your corners, whatever your style is.

Dear Landlord: Get Some Corner Guards

Dear Landlord:

When I moved into my apartment, you said that the place wasn't quite ready for me. It seems some drywall repair still needed to be done. Mostly along the corners of the walls. As this was something that your usual maintenance staff did not do, you had to call someone and schedule an appointment for it to be done.

I remember thinking, while these repairs were taking place, that the people who lived here before me must have been pretty rough and wild to chip so much drywall off the corners in this apartment. However, upon closer inspection, I realized that the corners had been repaired over and over again. I also realized, within a few months of living here, that it is quite easy to scuff those patched places on the corners and -- once you do -- several layers of repair work seems to just crumble off.

I am moving soon, but before I do, I would like to give you a suggestion. Save yourself the cost and time of constant repairs and get some corner guards. Corner guards come in a variety of thicknesses and can suit any decor -- even that of a small apartment. With corner guards, you can rest easy knowing that from the moment your tenent hauls the dresser into the back bedroom on the first day of his lease until that dresser gets hauled back out again on the last day, the corners are chip-free, scuff-free and they will look brand new.

Boss Corner Guards has been producing and supplying corner guards for businesses and residents for over two decades and they bring all those years of knowledge and experience to every customer they serve and every project they complete. Why wait until I move out and schedule the drywall guy again? Instead, you really should contact Boss today.

Sincerely,

The Tenant in 416

Stainless Steel Corner Guards to Dress Up Your Shop

Corner guards are popular in offices, hospitals, schools, and in other similar buildings but one place where they do not show up often enough is in the automotive industry. If you own a garage, or a car audio shop, an auto dealership, or even an exotic car museum, consider adding protection while adding a bit of flair with stainless steel corner guards.

For a typical automotive repair business, a mostly steel building with lifts and steel doors, adding stainless steel corner guards to all your exposed corners will do more than just protect them; it improves the look of the shop. Maybe your employees have never put any dings in your building but that sixteen-year old kid delivering parts is always in a hurry. Our brushed finish stainless steel guards, made from high-quality 304 grade stainless, are sourced exclusively from North America and look absolutely great.

Car audio shops are notorious for all of the building damage they get. The culprits are more than just the cars or the UPS trucks. Large tools, air compressors, sheets of wood and even things like the large toolboxes most installers have are constantly in motion around the shop, and corner dings are guaranteed. Here you may want a little more style because of the ‘custom’ nature of car audio. Check out aluminum checker-plate corner guards and forget about constantly repairing your building while showing potential customers that you pay attention to the little things.

Car dealerships are exposed to many of the same threats and can always benefit from upgrading the look of the building a little bit. Lastly the exotic car display, whether personal or professional… well, you already have corner guards. Don’t you? If not, contact Boss Corner Guards right away, it is a small investment that makes a big difference.

Steel Corner Guards are for Small Businesses Too

When you think of steel corner guards, you probably think of heavy industrial areas where heavy machinery collides with block walls or steel posts on a regular basis. As a small business owner, you might be surprised at the places that benefit from the installation of high quality, industrial-strength steel corner guards from Boss Corner Guards.

If you run a small business that includes any kind of loading docks, you need steel corner guards to protect your posts and walls. Small mechanic shops see bumps to their posts and walls from customers driving into or backing out of their garages on a daily basis. Family-owned farms ship their produce in tractor-trailers, and even the most careful of drivers can clip a post on their way by.

Areas where janitorial carts bump around corners and in and out of closets, bathrooms and other rooms should be protected with corner guards, as well. While you can use plastic corner guards in some of these areas, it is a worthwhile investment to use higher quality, much longer-lasting steel corner guards from Boss Corner Guards. We have said it before and we will say it again; it is better to invest in a high-quality product than to have to replace an inferior product time and again.

Parking garages are another place where steel corner guards are a must. If your small business includes a parking garage for your employees or customers, steel corner guards are a detail you should not miss. It is always better to have a scratched steel plate than to have chunks missing from your concrete pillars. Corner guards look more professional and help to maintain the structural integrity of the pillars over time, through many bumps and scrapes.

Please contact us to order your steel corner guards today.

Boss Corner Guards: The Movie Is Here!

We're proud to announce the official release of our Boss Corner Guards video.  It was not an inexpensive endeavour, but the results came out great, in our humble opinion!  We produced two versions - a full, long-version, and a shorter, abbreviated version, for use on different sites and in different areas.

Our long-version stars several of our own employees, along with a few professional actors and voice-overs:

The shorter version is for Product pages, and rehashes some of the information from the longer video, but at a quicker pace, and is more concise:

Let us know what you think!

The Importance of Drywall Corner Protectors

Drywall corner protectors are probably not high on your list of necessities for your home or business improvement projects, but they should be. There are many spaces in your home or business that need drywall corner protection. High quality steel corner guards look much better than nicked and chipped wall corners.

Consider Boss Corner Guards for these common spaces:

  • High traffic areas.
  • Dojos, or other sparring spaces.
  • Indoor sports arenas and practice areas.
  • Garages or transitional spaces, such as hard-used mudrooms.
  • Home hobby shops or sheds.

Not only will your wall corners look better, they will be more structurally sound. Repeated impacts causing chips, nicks and cracks in your drywall corners will undermine the integrity of the drywall. Eventually the flaws in the corner will broaden and spread, becoming flaws in the wall. Taking preemptive measures with steel Boss Corner Guards saves you time, money and the aggravation of having to fix a big wall problem that could have been prevented.

When you buy drywall corner protectors, be sure that you are ordering a high-quality product. You can easily get cheaper, plastic corner protectors, but you'll be replacing them as often as every month in areas of heavy impact. If you need drywall corner protectors, then you definitely need them to be durable and long-lasting; otherwise, the money you thought you were saving will be thrown away on buying more corner protectors. Plus, your precious spare time will be wasted installing them time and again. Do yourself a favor, invest in the best quality drywall corner protectors the first time around.

Please contact us to order your high-quality drywall corner protectors today.

Corner Guards - the Movie. Coming to a Screen Near You!

Boss Corner Guards may have a new e-commerce website, but our corner protectors themselves are not new at all.  We have been producing them for years, and their popularity has been growing exponentially.  This led us to our recent foray into the online world, with our new site, a mobile version, a Facebook presence and even this blog.  So what's next?  The world of online videos, of course!

Over the course of months, we put together scripts, storyboards, and had many discussions about what would go into our first professionally-produced video.  We settled on two versions - a long- and a short-version, which will be on YouTube and our various websites.  Walls were purposefully damaged, samples were made, and even more script revisions took place.  Voice-over and live actors were hired, and even some of our staff appear quickly on screen.  When the video debuts, see who you can spot!

Keep your eyes open for Boss Corner Guards' soon-to-be-released video, coming to a computer screen or mobile device near you soon!

In the meantime, be sure to have a look at the wide selection of corner guards available on our new e-commerce site www.cornerguardsonline.com .

Corner Protectors Provide a Flashy Finishing Touch

Congratulations! You’re putting the finishing touches on your renovation. Whether it’s your industrial warehouse, or your offices in the warehouse section of town, you’ve developed an industrial look that is both polished and practical. However, you’re worried that traffic (whether it’s forklifts, or overloaded dollies and carts in the hands of uncaring delivery staff) will knock holes in your wall’s paint job, or in the walls themselves.

This is where our corner protectors are the perfect solution. Strong, yet stylish, they protect any type of corners, whether drywall, brick, metal or plaster. Our regular steel corner protectors can be purchased bare, with a grey primer, or galvanized, and you can paint them any color you choose, allowing them to stand out, blend in, or complement your industrial décor. We also have aluminum checker plate corner protectors that provide a bright, flashy, mirror-like accent to your corners—making them stand out to the eye, and to the forklift driver.  The most popular, however, are our stainless steel corner guards, with an eye towards style and a contemporary look.

But don’t limit your thoughts just to wall corners, either. Our corner protectors can provide needed protection for the corners of your forklifts themselves, as well as other machinery that has a tendency to cut corners more sharply than intended. In your offices, add our stainless corner protectors to the reception area desk and coffee table, or the credenza in your conference room. Don’t forget doorways when thinking about what else needs protection from the day to day traffic in your office or warehouse.

So check out the wide variety of corner protectors available on our website, from steel and stainless steel to aluminum and checker plate, to industrial. We have a wide variety of widths and lengths and gauges to choose from when putting those perfect finishing touches on your renovation.
